If you’ve ever wanted to hear Robin say “Fuck Batman” before knocking the hell out of and killing a couple of street-level criminals, then allow us to show you the very first trailer for DC Universe’s upcoming live-action Titans series. Suffice to say that Teen Titans Go!, this is not.

Going to be honest, I don’t know how exactly I feel about Titans at the moment, but trying to compare the new series to Teen Titans Go is a non-starter.

I actually picked up the first issue of the New Teen Titans back in 1980, and although the team itself were teenagers many of the themes they dealt with over the last 4 decades, including Roy Harper’s addiction to heroine, were pretty heavy. Some would go so far as to say rather dark, and the team was definitely not portrayed as those cool cats from the 60-70’s. Which is why I’m confused with all the hate for the first trailer.

I mean, yes there was some stuff I found a tad…dismaying, but I have to keep reminding myself that just like many of the other TV adaptations there is a reason for them. I personally wait until I actually see the first episode before labeling the series as crap.

Moving Slowly

It’s been a sort of slow month. Wish I could say otherwise, but that would be to much to dream for.

Some of the highlights have been a friend’s birthday, and my cousin Debbie and her husband Matt’s Anniversary as well as my sister Laura and her husband John’s first Anniversary.

TV seems to be my sole escape from the trivialities I like to call life, along with the Toronto Public  Library http://www.torontopubliclibrary.ca thank Gawd!! The new TV season fortunately seems to be a good one, introducing such new shows as Threshold, Surface, Invasion, 5 days to Midnight, Reunion, and a slew of others, as well as bringing back some fan favourites.

My love life is still non-existent. Big surprise. Tom, the guy I mentioned in a previous entry, seems to have wound up being a closet-cunt, only able to deal with relationships/friendships that are only thru the various messenger services, etc… and the moment they start moving too close to reality, he backs off. All the while acting the innocent and essentially dumping any responsibility onto the hands of whatever person is dumn enough to fall for his charms (me in this case.). Guess I clued in finally after the umpteenth death in the family. He’s beginning to run out. Hope he doesn’t wind up being an imaginary orphan.

Moving on… Justin has finally moved out of his parents place into a lovely little space on Wellesley/Bay. He’s renting the sun room from someone, but is happy with his decision. Apparently he’s been making the most out of the new locale, by sleeping with someone new everyday almost. Lucky whore!

Brian has gone and finally got himself a job working at Dominion. Kudos for him. It will be a big help to his ego.

I have started finally some volunteer work down in my building’s library. I do this twice a week for a couple of hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I’m participating in a research project for a Dr. Maurice Poon, on Violence in Gay Relationships. Hopefully this will allow the man to get his doctorate, as well as providing valuable new insights for the future. Anyone who wishes to contribute their experience to this project can email him at  utoronto.research@gmail.com.

I’m looking forward to the movie Serenity (www.serenitymovie.com) which will hopefully wrap up some of the outstanding story lines left over from Josh Whedon’s Firefly series, and perhaps garner enough new interest to bring it back to television.
